Beccles is the ideal gateway for exploring the scenic River Waveney, where you can enjoy wildlife rich river trips aboard the Big Dog Ferry, departing right from the town’s quayside to neighbouring Geldeston.

For those who love walking, the historic marshland, gifted by Queen Elizabeth I in 1584, offers a variety of scenic trails northwards. Or you can follow the river through the Suffolk countryside.

Beccles Lido is a popular outdoor swimming complex with three pools – a main pool, toddler pool and paddling pool all heated to 28°C in summer, and open in winter for cold water swimming at 15°C. It also features a summer cafe, children’s adventure play area and all weather exercise equipment.

Beccles has many family friendly activities including a popular skate park on Beccles Common and exciting play areas for children. Adventure seekers can visit the UK Parachuting Centre for skydiving while Ellough Park Raceway – host to the British Championships – lets you experience the excitement of go-kart racing.
