Yoxford Area Guide

Yoxford is a small village sitting near to the Suffolk Heritage Coast, within easy reach of Aldeburgh and Southwold.

It takes its name from a ford that crosses the river Yox, where oxen would pass. It is also surrounded by parkland, Sibton Park which has a large fishing lake) towards Peasenhall, Grove Park and Rookery Park towards Leiston. This gives Yoxford the name of ‘The Garden of Suffolk’.

If you are searching for a new home here contact our Southwold team and we’ll help you find it.

Yoxford offers antique shops, great dining and easy access to nearby villages and attractions.

Just outside the village, there is a selection of things to do. RSPB Minsmere is just down the road and is a must for anyone who is into wildlife and nature. High Lodge Leisure is located in Darsham is a sporting centre including clay pigeon shooting, golf and archery. Glenham Hall is also located nearby, where you can enjoy house tours and is available for events and weddings.

Yoxford is probably most famous for its antique shops, but you can also find a selection of restaurants and cafés in the village including Satis House, G&T’s Café and Kitchen, as well as Kings Head pub. For a village of less than 2,000 people, there’s definitely a foody element here! Just down the road, you’ll find the pretty Suffolk village of Peasenhall. Here you’ll find the well-known Emmett’s Store, a shop and café famous as it’s one of the oldest hams and bacon producers in the country.
