Hoxne is a village situated in Mid-Suffolk near the River Waveney and about 5 miles from Diss.
Hoxne is probably most famous for the Hoxne Hoard. The largest hoard of late roman silver and gold discovered in Britain and the largest collection of coins from the 4th and 5th century found anywhere within the Roman Empire. The collection is now on display in the British Museum in London.

Hoxne is very lucky to still have a village pub, the Swan. It was originally known as Bishops Lodge as it was built by the Bishop of Norwich in 1480. As well as the pub, residents have a range of restaurants and pubs close to Hoxne, including the Fox and Goose at Fressingfield and The King’s Head at Brockdish, locally known as the pizza pub.
As well as many beautiful walks around Hoxne, it also benefits from many village clubs, including the Bowls Club, Garden and Social Club, Heritage Group, Choir and Hoxne Hundred, its very own Morris Dancing Club.
Hoxne is situated a couple of miles off the A143 with easy access to Norwich and Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and the coast. Hoxne has a primary school within the village but also has Scole and Eye primary schools within three miles. Hartismere School is the closest high school. It was rated Outstanding in its last Ofsted report. Stradbroke and Diss High Schools are also within five miles of Hoxne.
